NOTE: In kubuntu 24.10 beta, just after installing fprint, the User tab in System section of settings will has a “Configure FingerPrint Authentication …” button, but it just cannot work correctly (finger image to ”pick a finger” won’t show).

NOTE: in fact, in kde in archlinux, just pacman -S fprint is enough.

apt install fprint libpam-fprintd

pam-auth-update --enable fprintd

unlike Windows, kde’s fingerprint authentication on initial login screen doesn’t come to work until the password input screen is on (a.k.a the screen after you press any key on initial screen, like Enter)
